LAW 916 Facts, Storytelling & Persuasion (3 credits)

Facts, Storytelling & Persuasion will teach the skills and way of thinking necessary to litigate cases persuasively and effectively. The overarching principle of the course is that facts - their investigation and development, and the way they are presented - are the most important weapons in the trial lawyer’s arsenal. Trial lawyers who understand this principle have a clear advantage over lawyers who do not. Lawyers who think creatively about the facts and how to present them are far more likely to achieve successful outcomes for their clients. Core concepts that will be taught include how to develop and investigate the facts, how to create a fact-based theory of the case with supporting emotional themes, and how to tell a good story. Simulations will allow the students to practice these skills.
